2018 FLU SEASON - IMPORTANT MESSAGE
Public Health England & NHS England have invested in 2 new and different vaccines for the 2018-19 season;
A specific vaccine for patients over 65 years,
and a different vaccine for those under 65 years who need a flu injection.
This is good and means the vaccines are more targeted to meet the needs of those patients. However, the vaccine for over 65's will be released to general practices and pharmacies on a phased basis in batches in September, October and November.
For Wymondham Medical Practice and our patients, this means we need to change the way we organise our Flu days this year.
Our 1st and big clinic on the 29th September will prioritise those with long term conditions and will be on an invitation and acceptance only basis.
We will not be able to vaccinate those that walk in without an accepted invitation.
Please look out for invitations in the coming weeks.
The later clinic on 10th November, will be open to all who qualify for the flu vaccine.
We will be offering flu vaccinations in between these dates when we have vaccines available.
On Saturday 29th, over 1500 patients had the flu vaccination at our early clinic for most at risk patients.
Our main flu day clinic will be on 10th November between 8am – 11am and is open for anyone who is eligible.
